The University of Worcester
 is one of the fastest growing universities in the UK. Situated in the historic city of Worcester in the West Midlands between multicultural Birmingham and the beautiful countryside of Malvern, Herefordshire and mid-Wales, the university is two hours from London and less than an hour from the city of Birmingham and their international airport for easy access in and out of the UK. Worcester is a traditional English city, known for its captivating historic cathedral and diverse city culture. Worcester is a perfect city for students; it is large enough to have a varied and vibrant nightlife, has great places to eat and drink and numerous leisure facilities, but it is not so large that you will feel intimidated or lost. With great transport links, you can get out and travel during weekends and have a genuine English experience.

Welcome/Orientation

Located just two hours from London, the University of Worcester, with a student population of 11,000, is renowned for its friendly and highly supportive learning environment. Study Abroad students find the Worcester community very warm and welcoming, helping you to feel at home. The university has six institutes of learning from education, health, humanities and creative arts to science, sport and business. Founded in 1946, the University of Worcester has invested over £250 million in new facilities over the last 5 years to ensure students have access to modern and advanced teaching and learning spaces as well as a comfortable social and living environment.

Campus Life

The University is set on two campuses, which are within easy walking distance of each other. The campuses are connected by cycle paths and walkways over the River Severn and the famous Worcester Racecourse. St John’s is a green parkland campus while the City Campus is a grand conversion of the former Royal Infirmary. Both are fully equipped with the latest
in classroom technology and both have superb, modern student Halls of Residence on site. Uniting them is The Hive, the stunning brand new library, built in partnership with Worcestershire County Council.

Academics

Worcester study abroad students can choose from an array of academic subjects and courses while studying during the Fall, Spring or Full Year programs. You can choose from over 25 courses such as animation, computing, creative digital media, environmental science, history, sociology and sport just to name a few. UK universities expect students to self-manage their time between lectures, tutorials and independent study hours. Additional support services are available for study abroad students to help you adjust to the UK higher education system and be successful in your study abroad.

Accommodation

Study abroad students are offered housing with all our UK university partners, provided you apply by the deadline. The university offers accommodation varying in price depending on location, style and length of stay, so please speak with an advisor directly. Campus accommodation is arranged in self-catering ats of between 5 and 7 people, with shared kitchens and bathrooms (some have en suite bathrooms). Living in University housing is a great way to meet new people from around the world and develop life-long relationships and fantastic travel partners!

The requirements to study abroad in the UK and apply to the program of your choice are straight forward. In order to proceed with an application you need to make sure you have the following information:

  • Worcester Study Abroad Application
  • Official Transcript
  • A valid copy of your Passport
  • Evidence of Insurance cover
  • You will need to have at least a 2.8/4.0 GPA
